Within the framework of ATAK Program as per Defence Industry Executive Committee Decree dated 30th of March 2007, contracts between SSM, TUSAŞ (TAI), AgustaWestland and Aselsan have been signed on 7th of September, 2007.

Official signature ceremony will be held soon.

(In March 2007, the contract was valued by AgustaWestland at over 1.2 billion euros for the first 50 helicopters alone. It entails Turkey taking over the entire A129 Mangusta program and transferring the production line to TAI?s facility outside Ankara.)






Fact Sheet: Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter Procurement Program


-- Objective:
It is aimed to meet attack and tactical reconnaissance helicopter need of Turkish Land Forces by the integration of high-tech avionic equipment, of which hardware and software were developed and manufactured nationally, on the procured helicopters.

-- Scope:
Procurement of 50 + 41 (optional) Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopters

-- Project Model:
Direct Procurement, Local Integration

-- Status:
Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued on February 10, 2005.
AgustaWestland, Eurocopter, Denel and Rosoboronexport submitted their proposals on December 5, 2005.
It has been decided in Defense Industry Committee meeting dated June, 22, 2006 to continue with AgustaWestland and Denel in the Bid.
After the Defense Industry Executive Committee meeting hold on March 30, 2007; it has been decided to start contract negotiations with AgustaWestland as a result of evaluation of bids from AgustaWestland and Denel, that earlier had been shortlisted in ATAK Helicopter Project.
Tusas Aerospace Industries (TAI) will be the local prime contractor. Contract negotiation process has been ongoing.
